Welcoming a new baby into your family is one of life’s most beautiful moments and my goal as a photographer is to help you preserve that memory in the most natural, heartfelt way possible. A newborn lifestyle session is not your typical posed portrait session. It’s a documentary-style photoshoot, held in the comfort of your own home, that captures the authentic love, connection, and little details that make this season so special.

Timing & Setting

These sessions usually last around two hours, because we’re always on the baby’s schedule. Whether it’s a feeding break or a diaper change, everything is taken at a gentle pace. I typically like to arrive around midday, when natural sunlight is at its peak. However, if I find your home has limited natural light, I may use flash, but rest assured, I never point it directly at anyone, keeping things as soft and natural-looking as possible.

We’ll usually move between the living room, master bedroom, and, if available, your nursery which makes for a perfect, personal backdrop.

Style & Posing

This isn’t about stiff poses or matching outfits. Lifestyle sessions are all about real moments snuggles on the bed, a sibling curiously peeking at baby’s tiny toes, mom and dad soaking it all in. While I may guide you into gentle poses that look flattering and natural, many photos will be candid and unscripted. If siblings are involved, it’s perfectly okay if they aren’t always looking at the camera some of the most memorable moments come from their genuine interactions.

What to Wear

Think comfortable, soft, and light colored clothing. Neutral tones—like creams, soft pastels, or muted earth colors photograph beautifully and help create that airy, timeless look. Keep patterns minimal, and avoid logos or anything too bold, so the focus stays on your beautiful family.

Details Matter

I love capturing the tiny, fleeting features that you’ll want to remember forever baby’s toes, lips, eyelashes, ears, and fingers. These close-ups are a big part of the story. If you like, I can also swaddle your baby in a wrap and bring along props like baskets or textured blankets. However, if you prefer a strictly documentary feel, we can skip the props and stick to your everyday surroundings.

Bonus: A Cinematic Keepsake

Alongside your photo gallery, I’ll be capturing short video clips during the session and creating a one-minute cinematic video a moving memory you’ll treasure for years to come.

Final Thoughts

This session is about you and your growing family, captured just as you are. There's no pressure to make everything perfect real life is beautiful enough. Whether you're cuddling on the couch or enjoying a quiet moment in the nursery, my goal is to tell your family’s story in the most authentic and artistic way possible.
